Esophageal foreign body - Coin ingestion :: Characteristic radiographic appearance

Foreign body - Coin ingestion - Diagram
Axial :: Drawing || ACR Codes: 71.461
This cartoon highlights - on an axial/horizontal section - the anatomy of the trachea and esophagus in the neck. Because of the C-shaped tracheal cartilages, coins in the trachea will align front-to-back (sagittal); while coins in the esophagus will align from side-to-side (coronal).
