Acute Cholecystitis

The gallbladder is shown as an anechoic region (black), with good through transmission and a strong backwall reflection. The gallstone (cholelithiasis) is seen in the dependent (lower) portion, lying against the gallbladder wall. The stone shows "shadowing" - reduced echo signals distal to the hyperechoic gallstone.
