Specimen technique plain radiograph of the gross specimen gallstones demonstrates air within the gallstones. The air is present in a fissuring pattern that demonstrates the classic "mercedes benz" sign which can sometimes be seen on plain radiographs of the abdomen as an indicator of cholelithiasis in the absence of visible calculi.
