Three plane 18FDG tomographic images of the brain. Patient has refractory seizures. There is hypometabolism in the left hippocampus (arrows). Interictal (between seizure) hypometabolism may help localize a seizure focus, but may also occur with tissue loss (gliosis, mesial temporal sclerosis).
