83 year old man with enlarging mass medial aspect of right orbit. Patient also suffers from increased tearing (epiphora).
Enhancing mass medial canthus.
• 1.5 cm enhancing mass medial canthus right orbit.
• Obstruction of nasolacrimal duct by mass.
• Lymphoma
• Metastatic disease
• Sarcoma
• Carcinoma
Dx: Squamous cell carcinoma right orbit.
Dx Confirmed by: Surgery and pathological examination
Surgical removal and radiation therapy.
Lesions/Condition: Malignant growth right pyriform fossa (squamous cell carcinoma moderately differentiated)
WHO Grade(s):Grade IV
Synonyms: Hypopharyngeal growth
Associations/Predisposing Factors: Smoking, and alcoholism
Common Locations: Lateral wall of pyriform fossa
Gross Morphology: Proliferative mass seen arising from the lateral wall of right pyriform fossa, filling the pyriform fossa. The mass could be seen extending to the postcricoid region. It is also sitting over the inlet of the larynx
Histology: Squamous cell carcinoma (moderately differentiated)
Gross Appearance: Proliferative mass seen arising from the lateral wall of right pyriform fossa
Radiology: CT scan axial, coronal cuts and reformatted lateral and Antero posterior views showed a radio opaque mass arising from the right pyriform fossa, filling it completely. The mass could be seen extending into the post cricoid region. The mass also could be seen occluding the inlet of the larynx.
