Esophageal foreign body: Common pediatric condition. Majority of GI tract foreign bodies pass through without difficulty.

The most common site for a foreign body to lodge in the esophagus is the thoracic inlet. The most common foreign bodies includes coins (radiodense), toys (variable radiodensity), etc. Patients with underlying stricture or vascular ring are at increased risk of lodging.

Chronic foreign bodies can erode into trachea or lead to abscess formation.
