TextAstrocytomas can be classified as circumscribed or diffuse, and further classified by histology:

* Circumscribed (mostly in children and young adults)
> Pilocytic (WHO 1)
> Subependymal Giant Cell (WHO 1)
> Pleomorphic Xanthoastrocytoma (WHO 2 or 3)

* Diffuse (mostly in adults and cerebral hemisphere)
> Fibrillary (WHO 2,3,4)
> Protoplasmic (WHO 2,3,4)
> Gemistocytic (WHO 2,3,4)
