TitleCavum Vergae
TextNamed for the Italian neurologist Andreas Verga, 1811–1895,the cavum vergae is a fluid filled space between the two lateral ventricles that is posterior to the foramen of Monro. It is usually considered to be a posterior extension of a Cavum Septi Pellucidi, and is therefore almost always seen in asssociation.

In fetal development, it is an almost constant finding at 6 mo. gestation. However, by 9 mo (term birth) only 30% remain.

It is a normal variant seen in <1% of adult patients.
