| Title | Cavum Vergae |
| Text | Named for the Italian neurologist Andreas Verga, 1811–1895,the cavum vergae is a fluid filled space between the two lateral ventricles that is posterior to the foramen of Monro. It is usually considered to be a posterior extension of a Cavum Septi Pellucidi, and is therefore almost always seen in asssociation.
In fetal development, it is an almost constant finding at 6 mo. gestation. However, by 9 mo (term birth) only 30% remain. It is a normal variant seen in <1% of adult patients. http://www.vh.org/adult/provider/anatomy/AnatomicVariants/NervousSystem/Text/CavumVergae.html http://www.amershamhealth.com/medcyclopaedia/Volume%20VII/CAVUM%20VERGAE.asp http://www.nlm.nih.gov/cgi/mesh/2K/MB_cgi?term=Septum+Pellucidum http://www.nlm.nih.gov/cgi/jablonski/syndrome_cgi?index=95 |
