Fatigue Fractures result when normal bone is subjected to repetitive stresses (none of which is singularly capable of producing a fracture) leading to mechanical failure over time. Xrays are only 15% sensitive in early fractures. Bone Scans are almost 100% sensitive and thus are the gold standard. MRI is also very sensitive.
