Recurrent pain in the trigeminal dermatome, AKA trigeminal neuralgia. May be triggered by an insignificant sensory stimulus. Sensation is usually intact in the same area with the pain. Presentation usually >40, younger pts. may have MS. Mimics include dental and sinus pain.

Treatment includes antiseizure Rx: Tegretol (carbamazepine) and Dilantin (phenytoin)
