There are two types of dry eye - tear deficient and evaporative:

Tear Deficient
- Sjogren syndrome
- non-Sjogren (lacrimal dysfunction/obstruction)
- medications (primarily anticholinergics)
-- ephedrine/pseudoephedrine
-- metoclopropamide
-- atropine like Rx
-- antihypertensives
-- antidepressants

Evaporative
- diminished Meibomian secretion
