Philadelphia (ph1) chromosome 22. The truncated chromosome 22 (arrow) lost part of its q arm to chromosome 9 in a reciprocal translocation (see next photo). Ph1 was the first chromosomal abnormality consistently associated with a human neoplastic disease. It can be identified in 95% of patients with CML as well as up to 25% of adults with ALL.
