| Diagnosis | Colloid (neuroepithelial) cyst of the third ventricle | |
| History | 52 y.o. man with difficulty walking, memory problems, incontinence; history of colon cancer | |
| Findings | Head CT demonstrates hyperattenuating mass in the midline at the foramina of Monroe. The mass is causing obstructive hydrocephalus of the lateral ventricles with transependymal CSF migration. | |
| Differential Dx | • Colloid cyst • Cysticercosis • Ependymoma | |

| Diagnosis | Colloid (neuroepithelial) cyst of the third ventricle | |
| History | 52 year old man for screening CT after a car accident. | |
| Findings | • High density spherical mass in foramen of Monro on CT. • Lesion is slightly hyperintense to brain on all MRI scan sequences. • No enhancement following contrast administration. | |
| Differential Dx | • Ependymoma • Giant Cell Astrocytoma • Cysticerosis • Colloid Cyst | |

| Diagnosis | Colloid cyst | |
| History | A 25 year old female with headaches | |
| Findings | There is a well circumscribed rounded lesion with increased density within the third ventricle incidentally noted on the non-contrast head CT. There is no associated ventriculomegaly. On MR, the lesion is hyperintense on T1 and relatively isointense on T2. | |

| Diagnosis | Colloid (neuroepithelial) cyst of the third ventricle | |
| History | 54 y.o. woman with headaches for many years. | |
| Findings | Spherical mass located at the Foramen of Monro. The mass is markedly hypointense on T2 sequences and produces obstructive lateral ventricular enlargement. | |
| Differential Dx | None | |

| Diagnosis | Colloid Cyst | |
| History | 38 year old man with incidental finding on previous head CT. | |
| Findings | There is a hyperintense spherical lesion at the superior aspect of the third ventricle on the FLAIR and T1 sequences, measuring approximately 5 mm in diameter. There is no enlargement of the ventricular system, suggesting that this lesion does not obstruct CSF flow through the third ventricle. | |
| Differential Dx | Differential diagnosis includes: -Colloid cyst -Meningioma -Elongated Basilar Artery | |

| Diagnosis | Colloid cyst of the third ventricle | |
| History | 27yo white man presents to the emergency room with acute onset of headache. | |
| Findings | Noncontrast CT of the head demonstrates a well-circumscribed hyperdense mass in the anterior portion of third ventricle in the region of foramen of Monroe. There is asymmetric enlargement of the right ventricle suggestive of hydrocephalus. MR images demonstrate a well-circumscribed mass in the anterior portion of the third ventricle at the foramen of Monroe that is hyperintense on T1, mildly hyperintense on T2 and demonstrates some peripheral rim enhancement on post contrast images. | |
