A type of polyp (protruding growth) arising from the mucosal surface of the gastrointestinal tract - especially the colon and rectum. Because it forms gland-like structures it is called an adenoma. Tubulovillous adenoma (TA) comprise 5-10% of neoplastic polyps. Small TA'S (< 1 cm) have foci of invasive cancer in about 1% of cases.
