Cells of Origin/Termination: Nucleus Ambiguus, Dorsal Motor Nucleus of CNX, Solitary Nucleus
Ganglia: Superior and Inferior Ganglia of CNX, Celiac Ganglion, Superior Mesenteric Ganglion
Cranial Exit: Jugular Foramen
Innervation: Motor to constrictor muscles in pharynx, intrinsic muscles of the larynx. Parasympathetics to trachea and digestic tract. Visceral sensation from base of tongue through digestic tract. Taste from epiglottis and palate. Sensation from auricle, external acoustic meatus and dura mater of posterior cranial canal.
Function: Sensation of most of the viscera. Parasympathetics to heart and digestive system. Some taste and some general sensation.
