Additional Discussion:
In the frontal film, the metal jack extends beyond the outline of the trachea - making it very unlikely that the jack is in the airway.

The lateral film clearly demonstrates the posterior location of the jack, with an air-fluid level in the esophagus. (There is probably some spasm, and the patient was drinking to "wash down" the jack.)
