Description
| The MS-IV radiology elective is designed for students who are interested in honing their radiology skills prior to internship. The course provides didactic lectures in combination with clinical experience at USU teaching hospitals in the Capital Region. The focus of the course is to provide the student with an understanding of radiologic interpretation that will be particularly beneficial during ICU and ER rotations during internship. Conferences are held in the Radiology Laboratory of the LRC on the USU campus. |
The Goals and
Objectives
- Become an "educated consumer" of Radiology Consultations and Services
- Review and Reinforce the Basics of Chest Film Review
(originally
taught during the MS-2 year)
- Develop an approach to the Radiologic Evaluation of the Acute Patient
- Understand the fundamentals of Emergent evaluation of radiographs for
the Acute Abdomen, Thoracic Trauma, Skeletal Trauma, and Head Injury

Grading
| This rotation is PASS/FAIL. The student's grade represents
a combination of the following: |
- Performance in developing and presenting an imaging teaching case, and submission of the case to the Medpix teaching file.
- Degree of participation in class discussions
- Demonstration of learning class material by self evaluated quizzes
- Attendance and punctuality
- General attitude and degree of cooperation with classmates and
instructors
