NERVE ROOT: The portion of a nerve adjacent to the CNS centers of the brain and spinal cord that they innervate. image

NEURAL FORAMEN: The passage for a nerve. For the spine, the spinal nerves and vessels, pass through the intervertebral neural foramen, formed by the inferior notch of the pedicle above, and a superior notch of the pedicle below. image
