TITLE: Anaplastic astrocytoma

DESCRIPTION:
Microscopic sections demonstrate an infiltrating astrocytic neoplasm, exhibiting nuclear pleiomorphism and scattered mitoses. Vascular proliferation with endothelial hyperplasia or necrosis is not dentified. These features correspond to an anaplastic astrocytoma, grade III (WHO 2000). However, given the limited sample size, the possibility of an adjacent higher grade lesion cannot be excluded; clinical correlation is recommended.
